Component Breakdown
Deacon Class Range Extension Module:
--- An old design as of the Year 75, nevertheless six of these ships are currently in service with no plans to replace them for the foreseeable future. Able to bring five full Planetary Militia Formations, four thousand brave colonists and enough infrastructure to house them in all but the harshest of worlds; the Bishop-Class Transport was my Empire's first ever transport ship and remains quite viable to this day thanks to the addition of a Range Extension Module that triples it's effective range. A sextet of Ion Drives, made by Laske International (Pronounced: LAS-kee), propel the Bishop-Class through space at a plodding 675km/s. A very basic suite of sensors serve to avoid collisions, while a double hulled design incorporates armored deck sections both for ease of maintenance and to protect the ship should it's sensors fail to prevent said collision. A quartet of Laske International's patented "Guardian CIWS" help to shoot down errant space debris... or unwanted guests.
--- As for payload, the Bishop-Class can house 2,000 Tons worth of Parasite craft in it's Commercial Hangar Bays, while it sports a quartet of twenty five thousand ton Cargo Holds. An adequate allotment of Cryogenic Bays and dedicated five thousand ton Troop Transport Bay allow the Bishop-Class to function as an effective colony starter. A fleet of five can put a 20,000 person colony down in one trip. Eight dedicated Cargo Shuttle Bays enable the vessel to get it's entire payload planetside in just over a day and half with Conventional Shuttles, and a mere eighteen hours with Trans-Newtonian ones. The use of old technology still restricts the Bishop Class however, and new variants based off this hull have tended to incorporate advancements as the design's Ion Drives and Composite Armor make improvement and/or modifications difficult to do without altering them.
