Steve deliberately made jump engines large, expensive, inefficient, and squadron-capable because he didn't want hordes of single ships flying around, jumping willy-nilly, and generally being blub*-like intead of being deployed in batle groups.  Given that he added smaller-than-15-HS jump engines after repeated requests, you might get the single-ship version you're looking for but why not just use SM mode to double your race's jump engine efficiency and pretend that their max squadron size is one?

*blub here refers to some other 4X game where every ship is jump-, hyper-, or FTL-capable

Would it be feasible to have a jump engine that is designed to jump the one ship?

I would quite regularly just have the one ship flying around and it seems a waste to have this jump engine that can open a portal for 3 ships when you could save some space for more Razzle magazines :)

So, atm the smallest squadron size is 3, you could say that is the most cost effect way of producing them at the start of the tech tree and a single ship jump engine would cost 50% and use 50% of the space (so it isn't a direct correlation of a third).

The issue would then be that if you did group these ships together into a TG, would you be able to jump them as one fleet or have to split them up -> jump -> regroup them on the other side?
