Right cuz right now you'd have to issue a move to order and then press the button. What you suggest is kind of like how the "active on" and "shield on" movement orders are like, the fleet moves there and performs the action so you don't have to go around clicking.

Can you clarify this one for me, cuz I'm fairly certain this already exists unless you mean in a more specific scenario.

  • Add possibility of having dormant standing & conditional orders for sub-fleets, these orders would be followed only when sub-fleet is detached.   
  • Add new general order "Detach Escorts" (and possibly "Transit and Detach Escorts" order for jump-points)
  • Add new standing order: "Travel to and Join Anchor as Sub-Fleet" (fleets should retain standing & conditional orders when joining as sub-fleet like this)
  • Add new condition for orders: "Out of Ordnance"
  • Add new conditional order: "Refuel and/or Resupply and/or Load Ordnance from Anchor"
  • Add new conditional order: "Detach sub-fleets"
  • Change conditional order: "Land on Assigned Mothership" to "Land on Assigned Mothership as Sub-Fleet" (or add it), sub-fleets should retain their conditional orders when joining like this
Example usage for surveying:
  • Survey fleet consisting of Jump Tender and several survey ships as Sub-Fleets.   After entering new system with "Transit and Detach Escorts" order, survey ships would survey system automatically by following their primary standing order (Survey as Primary Standing order) and rejoin Jump Tender as sub-fleets after finishing (Secondary Standing order is "Travel to and Join Anchor as Sub-Fleet"). 
Example usage for carrier operations:
  • Fighter Strike Group with fighter squadrons attached as sub-fleets would use "Out of Ordnance" for conditional order "Detach sub-fleets".   Individual fighter squadrons would use "Out of Ordnance" condition for conditional order "Land on Assigned Mothership as Sub-Fleet", so they will automatically return to carriers (anchors) an join its fleet as sub-fleet
