I've been thinking about the system Froggiest is using to model the system government. It is an interesting way to do it within the current abilities of Aurora. The closest I've seen is using Deep Space Populations (DSP) to create various government positions. For example, in my Babylon 5 game, I've set up President, Vice President, various senators, and a Psi Corps head all as DSPs. The best spot to put them is in the sun, so it doesn't get in the way of your view of Earth. They don't orbit.
What I'd like to see is the ability to do this within the civilian Administrators portion of the Commanders window. After all, that's who is supposed to be doing the higher level jobs in the chart Froggiest posted, but Aurora doesn't have that ability. Ideally, I'd like to be able to create "Commands" within the Administrator's portion, with a new window to handle civilian government, perhaps something like the current Naval Organization window. Being able to create governmental levels, from President/Emperor down to planetary governor, would be interesting and add a new facet to Aurora, I think. It would also be easier to see the reporting and responsibility chains, if there were nested governmental administration levels.

How do you usually handle that enough Captains are generated? So that there are enough people promoted to higher commands also? (as it seems to need at least 16 RADL).
As i understand (with default setup) there should be plenty enough CAPT position ships to cover that?
It still would be nice if we would have it automated in some way. As I presume I will have to manually do it over and over again.
I think Academies would be a bit awkward to automate, due to how an academy could have a naval officer, an army officer, an administrator, or a scientist as the commandant, and the commandant's bonuses affect the bonuses that new characters receive.

So, as of the current version, commanders are promoted based on needs, so there will be no Admirals, vice admirals ETC if there are no positions than need them. I have 5 Academies on the Moon, so I would need a lvl 5 Commander to be able to fill the role of a Commandant. Problem being, I do not have any. And as the game does not treat this position as being "needed" no Officer is being promoted to fill it. I can of course only have lvl 3 Academies, but I would like to also be able to have a way to make bigger ones viable :/
Am I missing something, or is this an unintended consequence of the new promotion system?
