In all seriousness, thanks to Steve for the biggest release in gaming (at least in our eyes) of 2025 despite everything going on in his life.

Steve has been dominating the gaming landscape with the biggest release in gaming for the last 6 years running:
  • 2025: 2.6 release, needs no introduction.
  • 2024: 2.5.1 LTS release marking peak Aurora stablity.  ;D
  • 2023: 2.2+ release(s) with highly anticipated missile rework.
  • 2022: Version 2 release that changed everything (I exaggerate only slightly)
  • 2021: 1.13.0 LTS release (honestly kind of shocked how many now-essential QOL changes were in this update)
  • 2020: I'm pretty sure something big happened this year but I can't remember what...  :P

Based on this timeline, we can expect a major rework of a core game mechanic in 2026 followed by a stable LTS release with minor QOL and bugfixes in 2027.  ;D

I think 2.6 is the biggest update for roleplay options we've had yet, so I'm very excited once it is confirmed stable.  ;D

Been pondering starting a new game all week, currently hit with the back to school crud, (daughter in P2 so I get all the bugs) and looking at the forums I see this to cheer me up :) so thanks Steve.

Hmmm...continue campaign I've been struggling with, or start a new campaign I've been thinking about for a while?

Dilemma!

I'd like to officially take credit for the release of 2.6, as just last week I broke down and started a new game in 2.5.1, telling myself "If 2.6 gets released, you'll be ecstatic and not mind discarding the game you started; if it doesn't, you have the enjoyment of playing a new game for a while. Besides, the universe is perverse, and this will probably result in it getting released within a few weeks." Lo and behold, 2.6 is released a week later. You're welcome, everyone, for triggering it!

In all seriousness, thanks to Steve for the biggest release in gaming (at least in our eyes) of 2025 despite everything going on in his life. Can't wait to dive into all the juicy new changes!

Just quick post to show my appreciation from a C# Veteran, 2.6 has been so anticipated it coming out is massive and Aurora in general has given me so much joy and happiness as well as a sense of fulfilment that I just want to say I appreciate you and am sure many others feel the same, looking forward to playing 2.6.
