Ah well. It was a homeworld with powerful ground forces. Even my advanced detachments
got mauled, so I destroyed the enemy ground forces from orbit. I used as few missiles as I
could, but I'll still have a bit of clean up to do, once I convince them to surrender. :) Their
colony surrendered after I destroyed their ground forces from orbit, but their homeworld is
a bit more stubborn. ^_-

Just what I'm trying to avoid. I have Troops on the surface. Just waiting for the other two
Troop Ships to arrive, and we'll see if we can take these guys. If not, Evac the Troops, and
send in the NUKES.  :'(

I have tryed with two missle loads from my Hagelsturm-class space ships (2*79*WH: 1, 2*15*WH: 2 ) with the only effect that I had dust and radioactivity on the planet

Ah well. I tried my 20cm lasers, but the atmosphere was 1.1 density and it couldn't
penetrate. Maybe one or two missiles wouldn't do much damage to the civvies or
the environment.

If the planet has no or just a very thin atmosphere you can use gauss canons

The ship has the combat drop components. It can drop 6 battalions. The problem is
the loading. It takes so long, and morale drops the whole time. What a bunch of wimps!
If you don't want to "Hurry up and Wait", you shouldn't have joined the Imperial Marines!

Troops load times are affected by CHS if I recall. You need the drop component to make a combat drop, otherwise it will take just as long to unload them.

Are there any weapons, besides missiles, that can bombard enemy ground units?
How would you go about loading and dropping Troops? It takes so long to load them
that I think I must be doing something incorrectly, or maybe I'm misunderstanding how
it's done, and therefore designing the ship, itself, incorrectly. A miniprimer on the proper
way to handle ground assaults, and well as the proper way to design Troop Ships, would
be appreciated, as this is one part of Aurora that's giving me a bit of trouble. :)
