My suggestion is to read the fiction.

It'll really help you get a handle on technology, design, tactics, etc. I found it incredibly enjoyable to read, as well.

Specifically
http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/board,16.0.html - Trans-Newtonian Campaign
http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/board,112.0.html - NATO v Soviet
http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/board,97.0.html - New Terran

Just keep in mind that some of them have different mechanics (due to older versions of the game) and they tend to include some RP-style mechanics (iow the players are faking certain mechanics that don't exist in the game.).

There is lots of knowledge hidden in the forums. I started a game without beginning NPRs and invaders, which means you nobody will shoot at you before you leave the solar system, and when I came across a problem I searched the forums. When you don't find your answer, just ask.

Oh and tell people about Aurora, online and otherwise.

Hey all,

I just stumbled across this game while looking for more 4x space games.  I've loaded it up and started to read through the tutorials. . . . . I don't know if a game with this kind of depth exists anywhere, but I highly doubt it.  I'm blown away.  Yes, the graphics are. . . . non-existent, but who cares? All it takes is a little imagination and you've got hands down the most intricate and impressive 4x game ever.

So Steve, thanks for making this game possible!

I just have one question: Are there any other tutorials I should know about other then the ones posted by Erik and Steve?

Thanks!

John
