What is the use for transponders? I've seen on the wiki that you can use it on alien systems if you want good relations. Other than that?

They basically announce to the system "Here I am! This is who I am!"

Also removes the false contacts from your own systems with civies that are out of range of actives but show up on passives.

I just noticed something peculiar in my ship list for a task group, next to the ship name there is an A in brackets as well as a T, i'm guessing the A means active sensors are on but i'm not sure what the T means... Hep would be nice, it's not causing issues but i'd rather know if it could.

Transponder is on.
