Ended up doing this. The enemy ships would keep zipping back and forth over a 500km patch of space, so I dropped about 100 self-guiding missiles on top of them. Tooke one down, crippled the second and smacked up the third.
Ended up having to game the AI/ticks to bring it within range, whereupon my fire controls could actually lock on. Then I shoved about 40 missiles down it's throat.
