thanks guys seems the only way im going to speed things up is if i buy a SSD and devote it entirely to Aurora lmao

There is no speed difference between full installer and portable release.

Main reason of slowdowns is the fact that Aurora is made in ancient technologies that don't use even fraction of power available on any modern computer.

As far as I know and can tell, the biggest slowdown is drive access.

Other than that - Did you make the mistake I did a while back and start a game with a large population and NPRs turned on?  If so, the AI probably has about 1000 civilian ships, slowing you down.

Ive been playing with the Portable Installer due to ease of use but it seems to be quite slow compared to some games ive seen on youtube in the lets plays and I was wondering if doing a manual install would allow for a faster game play experience im only a few years into my game and already a single day can take 5-10 seconds to complete.
