I would personally choose to ignore officer updates, except that retirement is in that.
I would choose to ignore officer health, except that death is in that.

I need to know when I need to replace officers on craft immediately.
I don't need to know details about why.
I also don't need to know details about those officers.

So, to me, this is what I would do:
Eliminate officers getting ill entirely. While it might add some flavor to officers, ultimately it becomes noise once you have a few thousand officers.
Move retirement and death to a new category: Officer service ends. This way you know when you need to replace an officer.
Leave officer update as is, for those who want to keep track of that.

What kind of personnel information?  There are a number of filters for just that purpose already available.

small wish
the longer you are in game the more information you get
amount of white noise can be relatively high
I'd be happy to be able to exclude personel information
somehow I feel they are already tagged and this could be a very easy to do ...
