I think the entire system is in the nebula. You can't leave without jumping to another system. And missiles can't be equipped with jump drives.But that would be cool, FTL intersystem cruise missiles. The UNSC used them early in the war against the Covenant, it only partially worked as distractions because they gave of a lot of emissions that made them visible because of the way the radiation affected slipspace.
I just tested it, when you try to launch it will say that you cannot launch a missile in a nebulae.How about launching a missile from outside the nebula at a target within the nebula?
I think the same rules apply to missiles as ships, you need armor, and lots of it. But don't quote me on this as it might be wrong as I have not encountered any nebula yet (scouted almost 100 systems so far in my current game).Did you use "real stars"? There are no nebulae close enough to Earth in real life, so you won't encounter any. If you turned "real stars" off, you'll find some sooner or later.
