A rec module will give leave to any ship at the same location, generally you make your fleet hang out at the rec module shp for a while, but the other way around works too.

Just a question brought up by looking at Hajis link.

So they talk in there about how habitats need to be at a planet, and recreation modules work in deep space (some mention of defense ships sitting near jump points for years)

Just a quick side question, does a recreation module need to be on the ship it effects?
Or could I build a large "casino" ship that every year or so makes a circuit of all my deep space fortresses and ships, and lets them have shore leave for a month or so?

It should be noted that orbital habitats may be considered better despite higher costs. For a discussion about habitats vs. underground infrastructure go here:

Something to remember though, theyre more expensive to make than regular inf, and civilian market doesnt produce any either.
You must also build them on-site if I recall.

(Civilian trade can produce a couple 1000 inf a year as long as there is a demand for it, which is why dumping a few 1000 people off on the moon early on can pay off in the long run in wealth and infrastructure production.

Good for asteroid bases, or colonies on planetoids that even with terraforming will never be habitable. Also isnt it locked in at a col cost of 3?

Underground infrastructure is used to provide required living conditions for people on uninhabitable colonies.

It needs to be built on colony itself.

I should bother, why?
