It works now. Thanks.

It was the problem of the 1 km/s speed. As soon as I added a real engine and refueled them, they worked fine.

Here's the new design:
Code: [Select]
AJT Type-C 74k class Jump Tender 74000 tons     80 Crew     705.2 BP      TCS 1480  TH 600  EM 0
405 km/s    JR 2-25     Armour 1-157     Shields 0-0     Sensors 6/6/0/0     Damage Control 1     PPV 0
Maintenance Capacity 6 MSP
Cargo 50000   Spare Berths 63

JC74K Commercial Jump Drive     Max Ship Size 74000 tons    Distance 25k km     Squadron Size 2
300 EP Commercial Ion Drive (2)    Power 300    Fuel Use 7.07%    Armour 0    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 750,000 Litres    Range 25.8 billion km   (736 days at full power)

Thermal Sensor TH1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Signature 1000: 6m km
EM Detection Sensor EM1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Strength 1000: 6m km

This ship is classed as a commercial vessel for maintenance purposes

Of course, because I SMed the engines, cargo, and fuel tanks, I have only 80 crew where I should have 140.

I'll try that.

It needs to be larger anyway LOL.

Well I tried to use my jump ship with speed set to 1km/s and it will not jump, so most likely your jump tender cannot jump because it has no standard engine.

That could be the answer there.

SM an engine into it and see if it jumps.

I think I understand now. Tug + Tender = 43200t. So you need 43200t jump tender with 43200t jump drive.

Nope. It only takes into account its own size and each individual.

If I have a jump cruiser, at 15ktons. And a max squad size of 5, then I can jump the cruiser and 4 other ships each up to 15k tons.

Still doesn't explain why the tender itself can't jump itself. It is its own maximum size.

Unfortunately, I built 12 of the things. Now to find out that they are poorly designed is pretty bad... I can refit them with cargo bays or some such to increase size, so that shouldn't be too bad. However, I still need to figure out why the dang thing won't jump itself.

And make sure the tender is in its own TG and on the JP solo, see if it jumps then.

I've done that.

Jump tender was in its own TG alone. I told it to jump. Same problem. Since the tug has its own jump drive, I jumped the tug separately, and it went fine. But when I try to jump the jump tender, it fails either alone or being dragged by the tug.

I'm not certain what the precedence is on multiple jump drives, but the tender is too small for the tug. While it has a 74k ton jump drive, the vessel is only 17k. So the largest it can move is 17k.

The tug will never jump 27k, it is only 25850 tons, so that is the cap for it. As to why it didn't pull the tender, I am not sure. And make sure the tender is in its own TG and on the JP solo, see if it jumps then.

Okay, that's good to know about the size. I'm not worried about military vessels, since my plan is that they will *always* have a jump drive.

But why won't the tender cross over itself? And why can't the tug pull it over as well? It has a 27k Jump Drive.

Here's the tug, for reference:
Code: [Select]
ATG Bumblebee class Tug    25,850 tons     223 Crew     935 BP      TCS 517  TH 2100  EM 0
4061 km/s    JR 2-25(C)     Armour 1-77     Shields 0-0     Sensors 6/6/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
MSP 23    Max Repair 100 MSP
Intended Deployment Time: 36 months    Spare Berths 1
Tractor Beam

JC27K Commercial Jump Drive     Max Ship Size 27000 tons    Distance 25k km     Squadron Size 2
300 EP Commercial Ion Drive (7)    Power 300    Fuel Use 7.07%    Signature 300    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 250,000 Litres    Range 24.6 billion km   (70 days at full power)

Thermal Sensor TH1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km
EM Detection Sensor EM1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

Also, do I need a Jump Tender on both sides of the point?

If the tender has a commercial jump drive, any military classed vessels won't go through as a TG (I believe).

Jump tender can only jump ships that have same size or are smaller than the jump tender. So if the ship that you want to jump is bigger than 17350t it will not work.

So for example if you want to jump ship that has 74000 tons, you need 74000t jump tender with 74000t jump engine.

Alright, so I built a jump tender:
Code: [Select]
AJT Type-C 74k class Jump Tender    17,350 tons     80 Crew     251 BP      TCS 347  TH 0  EM 0
1 km/s    JR 2-25(C)     Armour 1-59     Shields 0-0     Sensors 6/6/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
MSP 9    Max Repair 135 MSP
Intended Deployment Time: 3 months    Spare Berths 3

JC74K Commercial Jump Drive     Max Ship Size 74000 tons    Distance 25k km     Squadron Size 2

Thermal Sensor TH1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km
EM Detection Sensor EM1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes
My intention is for a tug to drag it to the jump point. This is working as intended. However, when I went to move it to another system, it gave the message that the jump drive wasn't big enough to allow the ship through. Initially I thought this was because the tug had only a 27k jump drive. However, I already HAVE a jump tender at that jump point, plus the jump tender itself should be able to jump itself through. Neither of these functioned.

Here's what I have tried:
Tug + Jump Tender jump as a TG. Failed because tug has only a 27k jump drive.
Jump Tender alone jumps as a TG. Failed because ??

Please again note that there is already a jump tender at this jump point.

What is gong wrong here? Have I mis-designed my jump tender?
