Yes, after some more poking around I ended up gifting the ships back.  I'm not sure it deleted the officers assigned to them though; I think they just became unassigned, but I could be wrong.  I didn't look too closely.

Look at the Aurora Backup Utility in it's subforum in the Installation forum.

Aurora operates on a constant save basis so you can't undo. As mentioned above, you can recreate using instant OOB.

It's also a good idea to backup the Stevefire.mdb file on a regular basis.

Of course you do have the SM fast OB creation option to get the actual hardware back, you will just be missing the commanders and the crew experience.

I feel like this is likely to come up often, but a search turned up nothing.  Is there a way that I can undelete a taskgroup? It had some ships in it that I'd prefer to have back.  My intention was to recreate the task group from the naval organization, with a slightly different set of ships in it.  Obviously I should have done that first, then deleted this task group once it was actually empty.
