With regard to donations, I'm happy to accept them but I just don't go out of my way to solicit them.  I'll sort out the PayPal account in the next day or two and post new details.

Bump.

Not really, cheap... ;)

I know, but it's performance have in my experiance been unacceptably bad even with almost no load. So if server itself isn't cheap they guys charging for the service are...

I've been asked to post in this thread to confirm that AuroraSteve is the Reddit account I created recently.

The email address mentioned above is no longer active.

I've been with this host for nearly 10 years. I am now looking for someone new.

On topic...
Steve has stated in the past that he does not want to charge for Aurora (I know, donations are different). The reason being if he is accepting money, he will be obligated to provide support. As he is a 1-man show, that will cut down on development time and detract from his interest in doing so.

If it comes to the point that I do change hosts and the monthly costs exceed $50 US, I may set up some sort of "Gold/Premium" membership for $1-2/month to help offset that cost. As to what that would entail, I am unsure. If it also receives a highly negative feedback, I may scrap it, but then we are left in a situation like this.

Before we try to gather new souls for the hell fires that heat Steve's apartment, we should wait for Erik to sort out the server.
Gathering new players with the forum being barely usable isn't a good idea imo.

So we have a problem with a smegty cheap forum sever... and people asking for donation links...?!  ::)

A working donation link would at this point probably be really lucrative. :D

Also, remember the guy a while ago who wanted to start facebook groups and all? I wouldn't have believed it at the time, but maybe that kind of networking would have come in beneficial right now. 8)

Yeah, no kidding.    I'm the mod over there, and most of the time, I'd check in after two or three months, and not have anything to do.    And then Quill18 started his LP:

(It's apparently 1/7 already in reddit time, hence the incomplete day that looks like a dropoff at the end. )

Wow the sub really exploded, I think I have a few hundred topics to look at. Sorry civcraft, I've found something more important to use reddit for.

Hey, Steve, I found a couple of old threads that suggest sending you cash via PayPal at stevewalmsley@btinternet. com:

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work anymore.  PayPal bails out, saying "This recipient is currently unable to receive money. "

I'm not opposed to chipping in a few bucks myself, but I'm mostly asking on behalf of the users of /r/aurora on reddit:

Alternatively, if getting something set up is more work than you think it's worth, got any suggestions for a charity people can donate to instead?

(Not exactly a suggestion about the game, but none of the forums felt like a good match, so here it is. )
