The reasons there is no 'tech level' is because its all relatively fluid. If they were labeled then most new people would then go and do all the 2s, then start on the 3s, etc.

Also, you should have just posted in the official suggestion thread.

I'm an Aurora n00b so bare with me.   

I find that I like to reach a certain tech level before designing/constructing my first expeditionary fleet.     As I am a noob, I as yet don't know the tech tree very well and the wiki's technology page is 'half done'. 

Would it be a simple process to add a tech level to the technologies in the research window so show the tech level that each technology is/was at?  EG:  Ceramic Composite Armour (4) or Active Grav Sensor Strength 16 (3)

or maybe even; Ceramic Composite Armour (t4)
