Aurora had something similar before, called Hyperdrive. Due to issues it was removed and Steve has not fixed the issues so it remains something not in the game.

Hey,

I would love to see an engine can transport you over long distances somewhat quickly, but with side effects:
  • You can't move again for a certain period of time.
  • These drives do nothing in combat, because they take time to charge up.
This would emulate a warp drive, or a ship-made worm hole if you design it like that.  Really big ships need something to let them move around without a TUG attached.  To use, you'd select a special "Warp" task assignment, and select a waypoint (made/natural like planets) to jump to.  Appear in a random location within 50k of that waypoint.  To move normally you'd have to also have regular engines.

This is almost necessary for ships like The Enterprise, which was over 4 Million tons.
