- Currently the backbone of my Survey Corps, the Pioneer-Class is my do everything (except 2017 MB7) survey craft. Not really much to say about this design, it does what it says on the tin... a corvette for surveying. Four Pioneer-Class vessels are currently in service, but no more are planned, and the existing ones are slated for scrapping once the Sol system has been fully surveyed. Fluff wise, the Pioneer will eventually become the private sector's premier mid-level survey ship.
Contingent Class:
Component Breakdown
- The class name kind of says it all, with the Contingent-Class being designed to make use of the already in production engines of the existing Pioneer-Class vessels. After scrapping the four Pioneer-Class vessels that are already built, a single four ship squadron of these are slated to be produced using the engines, with two more squadrons of four planned. The Contingent represents an economical stop-gap warship, but isn't projected to be very effective against a purpose built warships without seriously outnumbering them. Thankfully, the fact that it's quite cheap, combined with the fact that a little over 30% of it's mass is dedicated to it's Class 4 Missile Cells means that the Contingent-Class will do an excellent job of making the citizens of the Confederacy feel safe. A quartet of Missile FCS' enable this ship to engage up to four targets with an eight missile salvo.
Protector Class:
Component Breakdown
- The Protector-Class is unique in that it the design has been drafted without plans to deploy it. That is to say, it is expected that not even one Protector-Class Missile Boat is ever to be built. In the case of war, however, this design would be pressed into service to aid in the defense of the Sol system, as well as any other Confederate holdings. It has excellent range and superior endurance, allowing it to serve as a means of force projection and thereby potentially assisting the Contingent-Class in the fire support role. It's absolutely massive engines make up just over 60% of the vessel's mass, but afford it extreme range while allowing it to exhibit decent speed for it's tech level.
Class 4 ASM, "Contingent"
- The Class 4 ASM, "Contingent" is a missile that focuses on sheer overwhelming speed to hit it's targets. The Confederation of Sol has a terrible deficiency in weapons technology at the moment, with only their engine tech being advanced to any sufficient degree. Thus the Improved Nuclear Pulse engines of this missile are boosted to produce 390% more output than an engine of comparable size. These missiles are not expected to perform well in the future, but represent the Confederacy's best option for the "now". These missiles are expected to be relegated to the anti-shipping / planetary bombardment role in the future, a role they are expected to excel at thanks to their relatively low cost.
