Aurora 4.91 Installation

http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1

Full Install for v4.91 (65MB)

Important! Make sure you read these instructions carefully and follow them exactly. If you don't follow them you will end up with a series of errors, usually 3061 then 3265 then a series of 91s. If that happens, uninstall and re-install and follow the instructions carefully.

1) Download AuroraInstall and unzip it. You will have four files called Aurora.CAB, Setup.exe, Setup.LST and AuroraUpdate491.zip
2) Run Setup.exe. This will run a standard Microsoft install program, installing to the default C:\Program Files\Aurora directory. If you are asked about overwriting any existing files with older files, make sure you keep the existing files
3) Unzip AuroraUpdate491.zip into the same directory (usually C:\Program Files\Aurora but check to make sure!) and answer yes to overwriting Aurora.exe and Stevefire.mdb.

NB: If you live in a country where the decimal separator is a comma, please change your regional settings to either UK or US (where the decimal separator is a period) when playing Aurora. If you don't change this, you will get a LOT of errors.

NB2: If you are trying to play and all you get is:

"Error 3061 was generated by DAO Database
Too few Parameters. Expected 1"

Followed by:
"Error 3265 reported by DAO.Fields
Item not found in this collection"

Followed by a series of error 91s.

Either you didn't follow the installation instructions or you didn't change the decimal separator. If you have been playing for a while with no problems and this error sequence appears then it may be something else and you can report it in the bugs thread.

Installation / Aurora 5.40 Patch

Aurora 5.40 Patch

http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=2

Important! This is a database patch so if you upgrade you will lose your saved game. Don't upgrade if you want to keep playing the same campaign.

As usual, please treat this new patch as a beta release and don't put a lot of work into new campaigns for the next few days until I get chance to see initial bug reports. This patch can only be applied to version 4.2 or later. To apply the patch just unzip the Aurora540.zip file into the installation directory, overwriting two files.

NOTE: The Aurora.exe in this patch was changed to v5.42 at 17:30 GMT on March 14th so you don't need to download the extra v5.42 patch if you are downloading this patch after that time.

This database in this patch contains my current campaign as an example game.

Aurora Chat / Yo, what's up?
« Last post by Fumbles on April 22, 2020, 03:30:46 PM »
Recently got my hands on Aurora 4x C# after hearing about from MandaloreGaming's review of it.  Decided to download the C# seeing as it seems to be the least eye-burning (no offense), and as my username suggests I'm been fumbling and bumbling around the game.  I've done enough to at least get two basic geological survey vessels out of my shipyards and off to surveying the Solar System, but even then I'm still unsure how to really consolidate my industry and economy.

Really, I'm quite amazed as by Aurora 4x and how deep it goes into its mechanics - even if does try to drive my teenage brain into a brick wall.  Just wanted to pop this topic down to say hi to y'all and to Mr.  Walmsley and kinda not subtly ask for early game tips. . .   ;D

Aurora Chat / Re: Favourite Moment?
« Last post by Silverkeeper on April 18, 2020, 04:51:35 AM »
I had just started the game. My geoscout detects this absolutely massive structure that it can see from billions of km away.
I send in the battle fleet to try and asses the situation. I launch maybe 40-50 missile armed fighters.Firing from 50 million kilometers they manage to only blow away most of the shields on this thing. There is no response It didn`t even try to shoot down my missiles. I do another run with fighters, same result.
Now I´m out of ammo for the fighters and I´m too afraid to send in my regular ships.
I send the fleet to Earth to rearm and pick up support, every ship I had.
Unfortunately I got flooded with errors later and had to abandon the game.
I hope to run into it again, so I can try to board it.

Graphics Packs / Finnish ribbons/medals pack
« Last post by Tunsku on April 11, 2020, 05:09:59 AM »
I made the ribbons for pretty much all finnish (relevant) awards.     Only exception is awards for local forces.     They are in the zip file, divided into sub-folders: only problem is I haven't translated them into english so you might not know what they mean.     However, here is a link:
https://puolustusvoimat. fi/documents/1948673/2258496/PEVIESTOS-kunnia-ja-ansiomerkkien-kantaminen-liitteineen. pdf/7c836895-b805-4ad7-bb16-c7b55da4035b/PEVIESTOS-kunnia-ja-ansiomerkkien-kantaminen-liitteineen. pdf
to a pdf concerning awards, starting from page 16 you can read english translations for the most important names.     In the files "ansiom" is short for "ansiomerkki" and "ansior" is short for "ansioristi".     You can use these freely.
