Choosing Commanders in Aurora
« on: December 03, 2024, 07:48:32 AM »
I really like to personal choose and search for commanders, especially for Navy and Administrative roles. Even if I set automated assigments I still like a lot to chose them myself and build a "personal" aspect of fleets, and is really immersive. Great job really Steve with this deep part!

I also usually tick story characters for most of the commanders in role, or in charge in fleets. I wonder if there is a search tab for name, or something easier and quicker to find a commander name from the commander menu. Any suggestions? How you assign commanders for your empire? I really love this deep aspect of the game

While I pretty much only use auto assignment, I do like to check on specific commanders sometimes, and agree it can be hard to find one specific Commander or whatever.

I'm generally looking for someone who I can see the stats of (ie they are on a ship and I can see them there).  So I tend to pick one of their high stats, and sort my officers by that and by rank in the bottom right panel, and find them there.

If you double-click on a fleet commander, it opens the commanders window with them selected.

If you double-click on the role name (Commander, Exec, etc) for a ship, it opens the commanders window with the commander in that role selected.

Well, look at that :)  Thanks!

Thank you Steve, both for the answer and for the great job in making this huge game (a lot of respect!). It's for sure one of the most deep game I have ever seen. I have noticed that usefull double click option in fleet menu.

Would be very usefull I think to add the same function to the event list (it works for a ship for instance pointing on ship position). Would be nice when you have a new officer, maybe with interesting stats, clicking on it and then, it will popup the menu to assign him a new job. On the other hand you have to find manually the new recruit. Anyhow is not a big deal
