The built-in race image set is of very mixed quality, with mismatched styles and the images are from uncertain sources. I therefore decided to create an alternative image set, with the following considerations in mind:
- Make the style of the images consistent
- Make the races as diverse as possible
- Make the format and size compatible with the original images
Drawing these by hand would have been a huge undertaking, so I called in Stable Diffusion - and with its assistance I managed to produce 300 images in a week. I am now publishing the set: anyone is free to use it. You can delete or archive the original images from the \Races folder and replace them with these. They worked fine in my tests, but let me know if you run into any errors.
If I have time, I'll work on custom ships and space stations later.
