*The original mark I anti-missile missile suffered from an unusual bug, confirmed by Steve.  The stats shown above for the AMM II are “as designed”.  Unfortunately, somehow, the original mark I missile design ended up with an active sensor strength of 48.  I did not design it with an active sensor, and I don’t know how it ended up with an active sensor.  To give it a sensor with a strength of 48 I would have had to devote 20 msp’s to getting that much strength, but the overall missile size remained “1”, so it is obviously a bug.  When I noticed it I checked it with Steve who confirmed that it is a rarely encountered bug, and he warned me to check the cost of the missile, which might be in line with the capabilities.  I thought I checked, but didn’t really look at it, so failed to notice that the resulting AMM had a total cost of .25 tritanium, 10 fuel, and, unfortunately, 48 uridium!!!!  I did not notice this problem until I nearly bankrupted the Zog race while building AMM’s, at which time I designed the AMM II, to replace the mark I version.

If the Zog don't intend to set up any out-system colonies, why do they have a Jump-capable colony ship design?

Good question.  The actual answer is that I designed it before I realized that they wouldn't need it.  Later on, they will decide they need it for other reasons.  

Also, it is possible that later governments will decide to colonize, as the Zog "ethos" tends to change regularly.

Good answer -- nicely played.  

Another thought might be that even if they don't want to set up other-world colonies, they might still want explore just to know what's out there in order to be prepared to defend the home beaches.  Extended defensive perimeter, as it were.  Especially given that their home planet was nuked into radioactive slag once before -- they might never want to allow a threat to even GET to their home system.

Oh, and I'm definitely enjoying the introduction of the surprise race!  :D

That, and now I'm hungry for crab legs now, for some reason...

Glad to see the Zog "Arch Enemy" has made their return.  "Insane in the membrane" comes to mind. :)
