Trade Routes, how do you do it?

Do you need to set up trade routes between starports, or do the civilians handle it on their own?

It´s all automatic.
Note: Trade routes, as in prior versions, are no longer used. The civillians will initiate trade (i.e.sending their freighters over there) with your own colonies or aliens (assuming you have trade access) on their own.
