Is there a fighter cockpit or do I have to use a 50 ton bridge on all my Raptors?

Bridge is not needed on anything 1000 tons or less.

Fighters have a couple of specialized items just for them.A command module will provide life support.  The engine is especially small, and you can use the fighter engineering and fuel tank to help keep the size down.

As stated previously you do not need a bridge for anything under 1000 tons (20 hull spaces)  This will include gunboats as well as fighters generally.
