Year 6

January - Caeser and the senate agreed that the economic situation was suitably sustainable, that when provinces become fully integrated into the Imperial Population. That they should fall under the central administration of the Imperial Roman Provinces of Europa. Also further work on improving the ability to scan areas for Minerals began.

February - Following the work for a mineral scanner, Caeser ordered the design of the Pilum class survey trireme. A few weeks later a design was proposed to the senate.

Caeser ordered immediately that the shipyards should be prepared to begin construction of these vessels.

March - Construction begins on the Pilum, and work begins on updating the Maximus' class chariots. So that they are more useful than just a courier, but as a short ranged warship that can be used to crush any rebellion or dissent immediately.

April - The New design for the Maximus is complete, and a squadron of four - and refitting the existing maximus - is ordered.

This design is classed as a Fighter for production, combat and maintenance purposes

May - Caeser and the senate agree that the advanced technology should be further distruibted amongst the population. Advanced buildings, and technology begins. Mostly headed by the rich members of the Senate that can afford to produce things. Soon the 'Nuntius' communication is in almost every wealthy household, and private lines are developed for speedy communication.

June - The Maximus' production goes into full swing and overhauls and refits are required.

July - Gaius Marius takes a small delegation of senators to the moon, including Caeser to show what they believe are mineral deposits beneath the surface. The senate agrees that it does look like possible deposits but without a specialised mineral scope they can't be sure.

August - Caeser orders the creation of the Imperial Fleet Command, in preparation for the future ships of the space navy.

October - The Pilum class ship nears construction, and is completed in late October. It immediately recieves orders to survey the moon.

November - The survey of the moon is complete.

The Senate agree that it would be in the Empires best interest to immediately find a way to set up mines on Luna. They commission a Geology team to take a closer look at the planet, taken to the surface of the moon upon the Marius, they step out onto the barren landscape of the Luna wastes, equipped with rudimentary space suits designed from what they found amongst the infrastructure that was found on Earth. They begin to explore some of the caverns beneath the Lunar surface, they find a small ruined outpost. Word is sent back to the Senate immediately Via Nuntius, two days later a Xenology-barbarian team is dispatched to the moon to join them.

December - Caeser orders that a pair of Marius' are laid down as well as more Pilum' class ships. The Octavius  a Pilum class begins construction, along with the Mark Antony, and Brutus class Marius'. The Senate agree that more slipways and shipyards need to be built. Work to convert the traditional shipyards of the Indian, and Chinese Empires begin.

Year 7

January - The Decimus report is again delayed due to no real gains. Caeser and the Senate agree that it costs to much to be done annually and doing it every ten years seems to be the best solution, the next report is scheduled for year 17.

February - Pilum continues to its search for minerals and heads to mars, and the two martian moons.. Finding minerals and another destroyed outpost on mars, this suggests that the universe is far less lonely than once thought.

March - The Roman military begins stabilizing after the wars, and a small revolt in India is put down by a bombing run from the Marius, one hundred thousund Indian Citizens rioting in the streets were turned to ash along with most of the town after a single Pugio was used to regain control.

April - The Maximus chariots are designated that they will work best in squadrons of five. The Brittania War Chariot squadron is founded, and the Maximus' that complete construction are placed into this group.

May - Realising the Maximus' can't operate far from home, a large vessel is ordered to be designed that can carry the War Chariots, from locale to locale. After a few weeks it is realised that any ship designed for this role is too big and isn't necceserily a good idea, instead the first ideas for the Imperator class are laid down. The Imperator is planned to be the flagship.

June - Some Parthians, begin plans with a rogue senator, for producing there own ships. Caeser orders that technology should be distrubted to Sarmatia, and Suomi tribesmen. They are deemed imperial and are given full citizenship to the empire.

July - Sarmatia and Suomi are fully integrated into the Roman Empire.

August - The Marius' and Pilum are almost complete, Caeser orders the pilum to be finished first and the Marius' on hold until that time. This allows the ships to be finished earlier.

October - The Pilum finishes construction on the 7th of November and the Marius' shortly after this.  Auxilia chin II finally finished training. The Roman army is nearing a stable size and complement, despite this there is unrest across the empire, that is only held in check by large units of garrisoned troops.

November - Following a year long stretch of finding nothing new the Siege Engineers discover a half dug mine, as usual the mine is almost instantly re commisioned around the same time a Manafactorum is opened in Gaul. Late in November a Automated Divine mine is also found, along with Auxilia Mongol I finishing training.

December - The Brutus, and Mark Antony are both released from Shipyards and sent into orbit and meet up with the Gaius Marius; await orders. The Fourth of the Maximus' is built, and put into the squadron.

Year 8

January - The Marius is sent into the shipyards for a Overhaul to make sure all the systems are bearing up for the years it has been in duty, everything seems fine and the Senate are impressed that ships last this long. Once it's overhaul is complete it takes a Xenology and Mineral team to Mars, to further survey the landscape. The First man on Mars touches down on the 30th of January, famously having remarked 'Gradus una viro imperii ingens emicat.' down the Nuntius, or roughly translated. One small step for man, a giant leap for the Empire. Legio-Praesidio Suomi II is also finally trained, and marks the last unit ever to leave sarmatia before its fully and total integration. Now the training centres are also fully integrated.

February - Due to it's extended deployment, the Pilum came in for an overhaul, noting nothing wrong with the ship it returned almost immediately back to active duty. Research under Saloninus furthers improves engines, the senate decide that soon a new engine for the ships may need to be designed.

Public. Nuntius. Network.

Salve, o incolae civitatis imperium.

Gaius: nullus erit labor iste imperio populi damna promitto.

Lucius: Ita, quamvis millions of liters de liquied fuel fuerit invenitur?

Gaius: Etiam.

Brevis et suavis ut 'via nos quasi eam in PNN, nunc onto Vercingtaor et Gladiator Games exciperent.

Translated: Hello, citizens of the empire. This is Julius your news reader, today it has been revealed that a massive stockpile of fuel has been found in the alpes. This is a massive development, however fears for jobs in the refineries of Etrusca grow as a need for fuel drops. I now bring you to Lucius and an interview with Senator Gaius about the fuel job crisis.

Gaius: There will be no job losses I promise the people of the empire this.

Lucius: Really, even though millions of litres of liquied fuel has been found?

Gaius: Yes.

Short and sweet that's the way we like it at PNN, now onto Vercingtaor and the Gladiator Games catch up.

March - Despite the massive amount of fuel found in February, an abandoned fuel refinery is discovered. The Senate decide to ease fears of job cuts in the fuel sector by opening it and operating it at a loss anyway. The Gaul, another pilum class is launched and joins the Pilum survey ships as they travel the inner system surveying asteroids, planets, and moons.

April - Nothing really happens in April, apart from the Maximus' squadron under goes maintenance, and prepares for it's first military exercises.

May - Bays for legion transport, are designed and storage of shells is greatly improved by developing ejection systems and improving them. Yet neither of these technological improvements can be used properly, due to a lack of new ship designs. Unrest on Terra still rises, as fears of job losses continue to grow. The Ruins on Luna are finally identified as belonging to the Vishnu Imperiam.

Quote
Report to the Senate from Xeno-Barbarian Team.

Senate, the ruins on Luna appear to belong to a race of creatures that resemble no living beings I have ever seen. From what we can tell this was a small outpost, possibly military on the edge of their empire.

They seem to be large reptiles, that stand on two legs, with incredibly scaled and armoured bodies. Militarily, we have found some evidence of their ships in records; they seem to utilize lots of weapons similar in design to the Pugio. Firing them in massive volleys at any opponents.

They appear to have some technology that we do not, and we have found IX rooms that can be further studied and used as installations if we can bring a team of Siege Engineers to Luna.

Report Ends.

June - The Final chariot of the Maximus Squadron is complete, and Caeser and the senate contemplate ordering a second squadron, but decide against it for now. Unrest continues rising, over jobs but with the opening of another mine in Sarmatia in late June, the quiet dissatisfaction simmers down.

July - A small unit that can be used to transfer men long distances is designed. It follows some designs and work that was found in the Alps. Using these pods to transport people through methods known as Cryogenic Stasis, it enables easier and cheaper transport of people. The Senate ordered the design of an Emergency size storage unit, that could be used to transport prisoners of war, now this has been complete and is awaiting trials a scaled up 'small version' of this design is prepared. Another fuel refinery is uncovered and put into action again operating at a loss.

August - Two more Marius' class ships are completed, the Scipio Africanus, and the Flavius Aetius. The Senate orders a hard design of a Flagship. The Imperator class is designed, using newly discovered High Density Duranium Armour.

Using the largest shipyard in Parthia, to begin construction of the Imperator the flagship begins to take shape.

September - Construction continues, and two automated divine mines are uncovered and put into action. Those that are payed for there work, again begin to worry that they are going to be replaced by Automated production methods.

October - Cinna a Pilum class completes construction, and begins to make way out into the solar system to begin survey operations. A massive amount of Infrastructure is found the senate decide that they should find ways to transport it to Luna and possibly even Mars. Caeser takes this idea a little further, and begins subsidising Volensius the merchant company that made the first steps into linking the furthest reaches of the empire, perhaps they could be used to make merchant vessels fit for space as well.

November - A new design of the Pilum is complete, dubbed the RI the Shipyard that constructs the Pilum begins and finishes retooling. Luna is finished being surveyed by the Mineral Team, they deem that nothing more can be found.

The new Pilum-RI is longer ranged than it's predecessor and larger, as large as the Marius. The new design was to ensure that the Pilum is capable of surveying the entire system.

December - A manafactorum is put into action, and the crew of the Gaul, Pilum, and Octavius all return for shore leave before setting out again. One last mission before they will be refitted and upgraded to the new RI class.

A small ship, designed to be produced in the Chariot Manafactorums. That can be used to take prisoners to outer worlds and begin the colonies. It is also easy to manufacture.

February - Further engine enhancements are made, and distributed to Volensius. Subsidisation continues and soon the first non military ship is launched into the atmosphere and then space. Although currently with no colonies or bases offworld they mainly stick around Earth quickly shipping anything and everything far quicker than any other infrastructure network ever could.

A massive, catapult is discovered. scholars believe it is used to fire large packets of minerals from one planet to another. Testing it with a ton of Duranium, a massive crater impacts on the moon. The general consensus is that they could require a receiving catapult to 'catch' the minerals.

March - Maintenance problems amongst the Maximus' Squadron, results in them all going back for refits, and overhauls. The first of the RI pilum classes is launched, the Hibernia sets off to survey the system with it's fellows.

April - The Scorpio, a new Marius class is launched, along with it's sister ship the Vercingtorix. Caeser decided that the foe that stood against him in Gaul should be remembered for his brave and valiant defense, thus naming the ship after him. The Imperator is also launched and joins the Imperial Fleet.

Scholars discover some sensors, similar to the Long Range scanners, but specialized to scan for heat, they soon discover a similar system that scans and discovers the 'heat' that is given of of the Nuntius, and other Divine properties. The Divine Scanner, and Thermal Scanners are born. Soon the Senate order that ship's will be outfitted with this in the future, it is clear that the sensor package aboard the Triremes is pitiful, and that it will need to be updated.

May - Research continues in the area of Magainze storage, and automation of Shell Feed Systems. Another massive amount of Infrastructure is found, that leads the scholars to believe whoever left it behind was not native to Terra.

June - Another massive Catapult is discovered, soon test fires of small pakacages are fired between them, Caeser orders one to be placed in every province for cross the planet transfers, before the Senate orders that some be built for the Moon.

July - All conventional Industry within the borders of the Europe and Sarmatian provinces of the Roman empire, are equipped with Newtonian technology.

August - Construction of the Fabius begins, five are ordered so that colonization of the Moon can begin with a prison colony and workforce.

September - A massive riot in Parthia, gives the Military a reason to imprison vast quantities of rioters, enslave and prepare to send them to the moon once the Fabius' is complete.

October - The Military finally gets to fight someone on fair ground, as the Siege Engineers uncover yet another tomb guarded by Divine Automatons, One constructio Manafactorum is lost in the initial fighting, although this leads Legio IV Africanis to lead a valiant charge against the defenders losing 27% of the Legio' yet stemming the flow of the defenders for now. The Parthians working with the Rogue Senator, begin devising ways to build ships. Under the guise of a Merchant shipping company.

November - The fighting against the robotic defenders stalls, and they slowly fall back before losing 70% of their number.

December - Unrest still rising in the population but is slowly being put down by the soldiers. The Senate and Caeser both agree that to fix the dissent there is one solution... To Integrate every conquered province no matter the state of the population at present, give them fully Roman Rights, and to integrate all of the territories under one main, centralised, government in Rome. Surprisingly with the vast military strength of the Legions this works flawlessly.

Year X

January - Caledonia class Pilum - RI completed construction, and was accidentally assigned to the war chariots. Although this was rectified shortly, as the Pilum and Gaul returned for shore leave. Soon the reorganization of the Survey Fleet was under way, and the refitting could begin. The Senate decided that they would put the hold on the Decimus report for a little while. Wanting to at least set up the colony on the Moon and Mars.

February - The Overhaul of the Octavius, Pilum, and Gaul is complete. Research into a Bay for storing Chariots is under way by Aulus Saunio, this should in the future allow a ship that can operate the chariots at a far greater range than their fuel tanks allow. More Robotic guardians are disturbed, and it's starting to cause massive problems for the defenders, Legio X Sicilia suffers massive losses.

March - The first of the prison transport ships completes construction, and further engine advances are made. The Prison transport starts to immediately take Parthian Prisoners from Earth to the Moon, and uses them to begin colonization of the Luna surface. The Senate now begin creating contracts to volensius to freight Mines, Infrastructure, and Construction manafactorums onto the Lunar surface.

April - One of the units of Robotic guardians is destroyed, although a few more remain. Massive morale problems amongst the fleet, cause the Senate to recall the Imperial Fleet from training maneuvers and into orbit for shore leave.

May - Research further improving the future of the Railgun commences and continues by the Perpenna research team, along with the uncovering of an Ordanance Factorum. The Senate orders another batch of Pugio Shells. Ground combat continues and 30-35% of the Robotic defenders are destroyed in the last months of fighting.

June - One of the Sorium reactors on the Imperator suffers a failure during a routine live fire test of the Ballistae, this causes them to return to Base for an Overhaul. The Cinna is refitted to Pilum RI and a Trident -B completes construction and prepares to speed up colonization of the Lunar surface with actual citizens of the Empire. The Second Imperator the 'Julius Caeser' launches and joins the fleet, along with the first of the Volusensus Space Liners, a luxury shipping service for the rich and noble who wish to travel and make there way to the Moon or eve to Mars.

July - Another Fabius joins the fleet, along with expansion to the Maurya shipyards. The Macedon' Sorium oar complete design and research, although the engine design is later deemed to large to be of any use.

August - A colony ship is launched by Volusensus and was built to serve the plebians who also which to travel to the stars, the Lunar colony begins to take shape as does Mars. The Parthian Pirates in the meanwhile have managed to use small, almost tiny courier vessels to get there men onto an Asteroid called Apophis. There they have begun to craft a pirate vessel, so that they can take down the Roman Fleet, and regain what was once theirs.

September - The Imperial fleet completes its overhaul, as the new suite of Sensors finally phases out of prototyping, the Senate begin contemplating whether to redesign the fleet. They decide against it, as they have no need for warships. The Apophis Pirate base, starts expanding. Utilizing small chariot type ships, they start expanding the base. Stealing from Terra and creating ships on the Asteroid. The Roman Military has no idea were it is positioned however.

October - The entirety of the Roman Empire on terra is finally organized, and centralized under Rome. A massive project to convert all of the Conventional industry of the outlying provinces begins.

November - The last of the Pilum's are refitted, and they begin there duty exploring and surveying the system.

December - A Merchant ship carrying infrastructure is destroyed by the pirates and the infrastructure is taken to the base on Apophis, the Imperial fleet begins patrolling the area around Terra.

January - A senator is found dead in his home; no suspects are found however he was the ex governor of Parthia so suspicions rise, about rebbellion and dissent. No solid evidence is found however and quickly the suspicions recede.

February - A slipway is added to the Parthian Shipyards along more ships to be pumped out into the ever expanding Military Fleet. The private sector is also increasing in size, month on month as the shipping line adds freighters and colony ships to supply and maintain the growing space empire.

Alps Tracking Station - February 10th

A blip appears on the 3D holographic map, a small thermal signature appears then nine more to match it, they bear in on a civilian transponder. The soldier looking at the map calls his commander over, a few brief words are exchanged and a order is sent out to the Imperator to investigate.

- A few moments later the civilian transponder disappears along with all of the thermal signatures, all that remains is the faint outline of trace scanner reading. -

Command Bridge of the Imperator Flagship of the Imperial Fleet - February 13th

The commanding officer, Primus Quintus Excingus paced around the bridge nervous at the prospect of the mission and the orders he had recieved over the Nuntius. He was told to procede with haste toward the Asteroid Apophis and investigate the area and the possible civilian wreckage.

His ship was well on the way, but the spotters hadn't seen anything on his ship and communication between him and his fleet was also at a bare minimum, due to the possibility of combat.

Suddenly the spotting officer coughed before speaking 'Sir...Primus it appears that we are nearing the centre of the scanner signal, we should see the target soon'

'Thank you' was all the commander replied then ten seconds later the spotter called out again.

'Target dead ahead; from what I can tell it looks to be about the size of a Marius, it's stationary sir... Not moving a muscle'

'I see' he replied slowly thinking for a while... 'Order the fleet to hold position, we'll head up close and see who, or what it is.

A few tense moments passed as the imperator headed towards the unknown vessel, pulling alongisde he ordered the Nuntius officer to send out a greeting to see if they respond.

A minute passed after the attempted communication

then another

BANG, the ship rocked from side to side. The majority of the bridge crew found themselves scrabbling around on the floor, a few seconds passed then the ship rocked heavily again.

'Damage report' the primus called out between long, deep breathes.

The damage control officer tried to assess the situation but was quickly thrown back to the floor as another round slammed into the side of the Imperator.

Then the helmsmen managed to regain control, and the crew slowly started to grow accustomed to the feel of the ship rocking from the force of the round as it hit them.

'Sir... No damage reports, it appears that the armours holding.'

'Good...Open fire, and order the fleet to join us'

Nothing happened, the Primus contemplated repeating his order, but just as he began to swallow and open his mouth he felt his own ship rock as the four rail ballistae open fire. The Imperator fired alone for all of ten seconds before the fleet also commenced fire, peppering the hull of the yet unidentified ship.

The 'Atago' as was now being classified by the Roman Spotters, began to speed off running from the Roman Onslaught.

'Load the Pugio, and open fire.' The Primus shouted, attempting to vapourize the target he was chasing. Just as he gave the order one of the Rail Ballistae shots managed to take out one of the Atagos Engines, slowing it down a little and reducing it's thermal signature by half.

It took thirty seconds for the Pugio's to load but when they fired, the first miss and the second hit.
A few more rounds from the Pugio and the Ballistaes hit the target before the Primus surprised everyone and ordered a fleet wide 'Cease Fire'

A moment passed before he explained the order 'We can follow them home, and wipe all of his friends out, the initial report said 9 other thermal signatures, let's assume he has nine friends... Helm match speed, make it look like we can't outrun him, and follow him.'

The Imperator and the rest of the fleet matched the speed with the Atago as best as they could, they began the pursuit of the ship.

* * *

Hours passed and nothing, until nine thermal signatures appeared on the 3D display. The Primus who had his eyes constantly on the 3D scanner smirked admiring the brilliance of his own plan.

'Open up the engines, order the fleet to follow us. Load shells, Load Ballistae, and open fire when we close...when we can see the white glare of there thrusters blow em' out of the heavens.' He smirked as he snarled out his order.

The Atago met with nine other ships all similarly equipped as they turned and headed straight for the Roman Navy, both sides fired Ballistae, and the Roman Fleet threw Pugios into the fray, the battle occured at such a close range neither side could really tell what was going on.

The first decisive blow occurred with the destruction of the Atago IV, but the constant diving, and maneouvring of both sides caused incidents of friendly fire, and massive destruction of both sides. After ten minutes of battle, the last shot was fired.

'Report' the Primus said slowly, toward the officers of his bridge. A small crimson drop sliding down his temple from a cut on his head after the beating his ship took.

'Sir...We've desotryed the enemy, but we've lost...The Scorpio and the Flavius Aetius outright, the Brutus, Gaius Marius are abandoning ship due to massive amount of damage, and the Julius Caeser, Mark Antony, Scipio Africanus, and Vercingtorix are all reporting massive damage. The Commander of the Caeser died in action, after the bridgecrew was wiped out when the bridge was destroyed.

We have sustained damage to all the crew quarters, two of the oars, fuelstorage, and weapons' the damage control officer finally finished, recounting the losses on the Roman Side...

'I see, Get damage control officers on the engines, tell the Antony to pick up all of those in Lifepods, friendlies then any that abandoned from the pirate ships.... Nuntius get a line to the senate and tell them that it appears we have pirates here now and that we are not equipped to deal with them decisively. Helm bring us closer to the rest of the fleet, and get everyone heading home for repairs.'

March - A pilum RI entered service as the warships returned home for repairs. Every remaining member of the Imperial fleet had to go in for repairs and overhaul. The Senate was disgusted with the performance of the fleet against what appeared to be Parthian pirates, and ordered a complete redesign of the warships and components, yet keeping the primary flagship and smaller scout ships as the basis for the design, they also demanded a new war chariot that can be used for close targets around Terra if it was required.

April - The Scholars worked day and night for almost a month before they managed to come up with any designs of note, eventually the following was presented to the Senate.

Geological Survey Sensors (1)   1 Survey Points Per Hour

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

The new Pilum upgrade, fits the new high power engine into the old Pilum frame, doubling the speed and as it is an easy refit it will be cheap instead of building an entirely new class of ship.

Caeser and the Senate agree that the fleet needs upgrading. Ten Iceni chariots are ordered to replace the Maximus, and the empty shipyard in Rome. Although only one slipway is big enough to produce the Marius II the Mark Antony begins reffitting to the new standard, with new parts being placed on and old parts ripped out it will take longer than building a new ship, but the surviving Marius' deserve it after distinguished service. The current shipyard that builds the Marius I is ordered to expand so it can cope with the new Marius II and the same is given to that that builds the Imperator, as no military shipyard can build this warship it's ordered that the Parthian shipyards expand.

May - Survey of the system continues, and Caeser recieves a report from the head of Survey Operations within Imperial Fleet command. It appears they are reaching the half way point.

Official Report on Progress of Survey Operations.

Rocky Planets: 12   Surveyed: 5
Gas Giants: 4   Surveyed: 0
Moons: 100   Surveyed: 3
Asteroids: 478   Surveyed: 263

of these only 24 bodies have mineral concentrations, we have heard that some Senators has setup a mining complex on the asteroid of Eunomia, we are purchasing the minerals they produce and sending them to Terra.

June - The fleet upgrade operation continues, with the scrapping of the Maximus Squadron in preparation for the arrival of the Iceni' despite the estimated completion day of August 15.

July - Again, a small thermal signature is spotted near the Apophis Asteroid... A single ship is sent to investigate. Caeser vetoes that order and demands that the fleet waits for the arrival of the new Mark Antony, then the Marius II can be tested alone against whatever it may find out there.

August - Imperial fleet command inform Caeser that that is too far away, after much arguing and disagreement Caeser relents and orders the remaining two Marius' class ships are sent to investigate.

August 17th - The Search fleet arrive 2.7M Roman miles from Apophis and sensors pick up a large structure on the surface, after a few minutes of deliberations the two ships decide to shell the surface... Shoot first, ask questions later. Of the 15 shells that are fired, only two hit the target. sensors reveal that neither explosion caused any damage to the structure, both captains agree to return toward Terra. After a few minutes sensors pick up twenty small, tiny craft similar to the Maximus heading toward the position they held when they fired missiles, continuing to run worked for a few minutes until the craft pulled up alongside parallel to the retreating roman vessals. The captains realised that they were not actually being chased, but the other craft were patrolling the area. Realising this they calmed down slightly, until the group made a sudden change of direction and beelined for them.

After a few minutes of chasing, the ships caught up and began making strafing runs on the Triremes, the Ballistae aboard the Marius' couldn't turn fast enough to fire at the targets. Yet the attacking ships were highly inaccurate in the strafing runs missing 80% of the time. The Imperator and the Caeser started to head toward the engagement but being days away they had no hope of reaching the Africanis or the Vercingtorix in time.

A minute passed, and both ships erupted in a flash of light, almost at once. It is not known what happened to any survivors. The imperator and the Caeser were ordered to return to Terra and await orders there.

September - Two more Pilum RI are launched, the Etrusca and the Brittania, this couldn't have come at a better time due to Terra running out of Neutronium... Entirely. Due to the battle of Aphopis I and Primus Excingus valiant command of the fleet, he is awarded a Laurel Wreath, and is promoted to the rank of Tribune.

October - The first of the Iceni is completed along with the Agenot and the Poseiden a pair of Trident - B class ships they immediately receive orders to bring more miners to Luna and Mars. Due to the recent construction of the Pilums, the survey fleet is recalled for an overhaul, resupply, refuel and a much needed shore leave.

November - The Pilum fleet captains enjoy a meeting discussing the joys of geological survey work, the new recruits to the survey fleet join in and try to pick up any tips, as the last of the vessels heads out of overhaul.

December - The survey fleet head out again, to try and finish the survey of the Solar System. The scholars warn the senate, that by mid February. Earth will be incredibly close to Aphopis and also close to those that attacked the Imperial Fleets. Caeser and Imperial fleet command assure the senate and those privy to the information of the defeat, and battles that have occured in space, that the ships that destroyed the Vercingtorix and the Africanus are in no way capable of reaching Terra.

Year XII

January -Preparations begin for the fleet to combat any threat of the 'Apophis' pirates due to the orbit of Terra bringing it particularly close to the Asteroid that has been so close to all the battles and is the suggested home of the Pirates. Due to the pirate threat the senate increase control measures on civilian shipping.

February - The survey fleet continues it's survey of the system finding a massive deposit of Sorium on Saturn, and smaller mineral deposit among it's moons. The senate committee for Survey and Mineral Extraction begin discussing plans to set up non civilian mining complexes on these asteroids using Divine Mines.

March - The second of the Iceni is launched and commisioned as the Iceni II after it's very brief flight trials, and the shipyard in Rome is expanded. Preparation to begin construction of the Reformed fleet begin. Boronide on Terra is also completely exhausted in supply but three asteroids are found to contain small amounts of minerals, the asteroids of the system seem to be an increasingly important resource for the future.

April - A new civilian mining colony is established on Dione, providing access to the senate  and government to more minerals taht can be purchased. Caeser signs the order and the minerals are sent to Luna to aid in the colonial construction there.

23rd of April -  The twenty ships that destroyed the Vercingtorix and the Africanis are spotted in the alps tracking station. The two Iceni class new-model chariots and the Imperators are detached from the Terra and sent to investigate.

Two hours later the Imperator spots the shps and orders the attack, but just like the Vercingtorix and Africanis the enemy ships move so fast for a target to be acquired. Ordering his ships to return to Terra he turns and flees.

The enemy ships slow and follow, commiting strafing runs on the Imperator at only a fraction of there top speed to allow them the most time firing there guns, this allows the Imperator, the Caeser and the two Iceni to begin firing back.

The power of the two Imperator class guns quickly start tearing through the enemy ships now they are only keeping pace.

Quote
Captains Log Imperator

Today we fought a grave enemy, but it was clear to me that once they matched speed with us we could easily destroy them. We continued the run for Terra firing our guns and disabling ships as we went. The enemy were most determined to follow and soon all twenty ships were disabled, I ordered our accompanying Iceni class ships to turn and gun down the Disabled ships. Which they did so Admirably. If the new model ships are as effective as we were today then we are a force to be reckoned with

Captains Log end.

The enemy threat was contained and destroyed, and in an act of pure malice the commander of the Imperator ordered all life pods from the enemy ships extinguished, as they themselves did not save the crews of the Vercingtorix and it's sister.

Quote
Extract from Caesers Victory Speach to the Roman people

People of Rome, People of the Empire, People of our glorious land, we reign victorious over the Pirate menace that has struck at our shipping in the skies. They have tried to take lives, to take resources, to take our freedom to explore the stars. They, have failed, they did not succeed and they will never succeed. We are Roman and we will not lie down and let people attack us and get away with it, our glorious ships decisively and without mercy crushed anyone that stands before us in our journey.

People of Rome, stand with me and applaud the triumph of the Imperial Fleet.
People of Rome, Stand with me and we shall never fall.
People of Rome, Stand triumphant.

May - The public fall back in love with the great oratory of Caeser. While he didn't mention the previous defeats and losses that only he and the senate and a few key members of the military know about he did show the world that any rebellion will be crushed. However unrest does rise on Luna slightly due to the lack of rights of the colonists and the overcrowding, Caeser signs a document and an article to address this situation.

'Article XIV.III - All citizens of a Roman colony will be granted a senate of there own, these senators will select a pair of Consuls to rule and govern the colony and the Consuls shall have a position in the Grand Senate of Terra. Every male citizens has the right to vote in these elections.'

June - Research into Asteroid Mining modules for ships, and gas extraction modules begin, as does research into a salvage module due to the abundance of wrecks appearing in the system.

July -Auxilia S. Africanis completes construction and the Iceni III joins the Brittania chariot fleet, the Imperator and Caeser also finish overhaul and the fleet is again prepared for any threats.

August - Research into Composite Armours begin, this step while late for the next model of ships may be useful in the future if it is cost effective to refit onto the fleet.

September - Unrest on Luna continues to rise, but other than that the month passes without anything of interest occurring.

October - Engine research continues under Flavius Saloninus and it is believed he discovers new ways to throttle engines for greater efficiency this may be incredibly useful for a long range scout ship. The Caledonia and Hispania report that they are running low on fuel and it is possible that they will be stranded due to the incredible distances that the Pilum fleet are now travelling to survey the outer system.

October 24th - Imperator is detached and ordered to meet the Hispania and refuel them in space, it is a risky mission but it allows the Hispania to return home without any other problems. In response to this Caeser orders that a Tanker is designed, a ship which can carry an incredible amount of Fuel and be stationed on a Fuel refining station on or near saturn to extend the range of ships in Sol.

November - Iceni IV joins the Iceni fleet, and the Chariot team begins to look like a formidable force. Unrest on Luna is continuing to rise and is getting high, but with no easy way to transport troops to Luna there is no easy way of crushing the unrest without giving in to there demands.

December - Caeser orders emergency infrastructure to be sent to Mars and Luna as well as factory and mining components, with a priority for those on Luna.
