NC Part 4: April 2040 - December 2040

24th April 2040
The Perseus class Survey Ship Beagle completes the geological survey of a 400km diameter asteroid in the Kuiper Belt, finding very useful mineral concentrations. These comprise Duranium 21600 (0.8), Neutronium 4350 (0.8), Tritanium 10000 (0.8), Sorium 7750 (0.9) and Uridium 4624 (0.9). This asteroid, now designated as Toronto, is almost six billion kilometers from the Sun and located outside the orbit of Pluto. Given the quantity and accessibility of the minerals, this is a very valuable find and almost certainly we are the first nation to identify it. However, at such a great distance it will be hard to protect and is a two month round trip from Earth at the maximum speed of our Themistocles class freighters. For now mining efforts will continue on Montreal but at some point, the automated mines will be relocated to Toronto, unless an even more valuable asteroid is found.

A fifth Automated Mine is delivered to Montreal, increasing the total annual output of minerals for the mining colony to 226 tons. Construction factories on Earth are scheduled to build ten more automated mines over the next eight months.

The three Achilles class survey ships, Newton, Einstein and Hawking, complete their gravitational survey of the Sol system, revealing the location of six jump points. In increasing order of distance, the jump point locations are as follows:

1)   727m km on a bearing of 116. This is just inside the orbit of Jupiter at 4 o
