installing 2.4.0 ??

Since I only see the words "Patch" on all the >2.0 versions and only see "full installation" on 1.13,
I assume that I install 1.13, and patch it to 2.4.0 directly? or so i need anything between them?

nothing between them, you got it right. Download a full install and then the 2.4.0 patch, and if it exist any 2.4.x patches. Use the files from the later versions to overwrite the ones from the earlier ones.
