Human Nature - year 154, New Threats
« on: May 11, 2014, 12:07:54 AM »
The year 154 sped by much the same as before, with more squabbling, Venus' announced exclusion zone on the moon was honored but no official response was given by the other governments.

The large amount of resources in Sol have prevented aggressive exploration, and the loss of a Venusian survey ship in Barnard's Star did nothing to encourage it. The factions maintained silence for the most part, but it is clear that arms build up continues.

Near the end of the year, a large fleet of Venusian ships moved from Venus to Luna, presumable to enforce the exclusion zone. It is clear Venus has at least a maintenance base established on the moon.

All this was overshadowed at the New Year though, when an enormous active sensor went off in Earth orbit, with a strength of 1800, it reached out past the orbit of Uranus, and passive sensors easily picked up the source, a ship of unknown tonnage, but with a thermal signature of 500 and strength 10 energy shields, it began moving, slowly, towards Luna....

[ooc]...So now we have to beg for some details.

Exactly how fast is that thing moving? Resolution of the sensor?

By Earth orbit you mean 384,000 km from Luna? If so, that means the [redacted]'s sensor was left off for us to not notice it?[/ooc]

[ooc]It is at Earth right now, I stopped when it appeared essentially. It appears to be starting to move at 500 kps at the moment. The resolution on the sensor is 100. And you don't know if it was lying powered down in Earth orbit or if it was launched from the planet, perhaps the survey teams triggered something, or a passive sensor noticed the increased ship movement and it activated, or perhaps it has some sort of super cloak and has been roaming the system this whole time. That will remain to be seen.[/ooc]
