It'd be nice to be able to create a ship design, then select it and others and basically toss them into open space and duke it out.

Posts got eaten.

Father Tim and someone else had replied that they use duplicate databases. Someone else (Matt?) replied it'd be a nice idea.

Using a duplicate db is nice if you are just testing the tech. But what if you want to simulate the officers too?

An "Testing Range" are similar in TRAVELLER,DEPOT's System (in Traveller) have a dedicated section to USE an entire Solar System to training and use new technology ON FIELD.
Steve,ur "game" are HUGE..i think u can take a soubroutine and have a similar options in Aurora...obviously NOT in an Colonized System:))..(figure a 1 trillions Atomic Missile testing around...lol)
