I often partially refuel ships, either because I have a ship that needs just a bit more fuel to make it to its destination and I don't want to overly deplete the current source, or because I am fueling a tanker and do not want to give it a full tank for its upcoming mission.
Currently, I must give a refuel order, manually watch the tank while I advance time, clear the order when the fuel reaches the desired level, and then give the desired subsequent orders.
To reduce the micromanagement time required for this, could we have some assortment of the following options?
A) A setting per ship (on the Miscellaneous tab, probably) for desired max fuel level percent (default 100%). Refuel orders will treat this as the fuel capacity of the ship.
B) New fleet orders to "Refuel (Partial)..." (alongside the existing "Refuel..." orders) that will respect the above ship setting (while the existing "Refuel..." orders will act like they do now, ignoring the setting).
C) A Class setting (alongside Minimum Fuel) for the default partial refill percent, applied to newly built ships of the class.
D) An order setting (similar to Order Delay and Minimum Distance) to specify the desired fuel level percent for a given Refuel order. Default is blank, which is interpreted as 100%.
B and C require A.
D could stand alone, but is the weakest choice, since it would apply to all ships in the fleet for a given order, which is problematic.
Probably there are other ways to skin this cat.
