I called a halt to the AAR several years later, once our empire had become so powerful that it was unstoppable, and the game was starting to get boring. This battle certainly got finished, and several later battles in different star systems as well.
EDIT:
In my opinion, the most fun part of this game was the fact that it was played as a consultation-game, with about seventy forum members taking part in the decision-making process. More than half of them were present with the fleet (and at risk of being killed) during this first major battle.
